My little boy is turning 2. I have no idea how to process the thought that he's growing up and becoming more independent. I wanted to make this post for me to have a few thoughts to remember about this age and his current silly sayings.
HIS LIKES:
- Ballons. Currently we watch UP about 5 times a day because it perfectly combines his love for dogs, balloons and airplanes. The first time he watched it he had a series of feels going on, with excitement and worry as the balloons flew up he would point at the TV and say "oh ooonss no no no no".
- Our Pups. We have pictures of our dogs up on the wall and every day he points at each and says "azzy and elly" (jazzy & belle). So I got some printed out for him and he gives them kisses as well as loves looking back at our chatbooks and points them out with a huge smile on his face. He loves his pups.
- Dancing. At the end of movies like Wreck it Ralph he gets down on all fours and shakes his booty up in the air. His signature dance move!
- Spaghetti. He's like any other toddler and goes through eating habits. One week he will eat everything I give him while the next he's barely serving off goldfish and vanilla wafers. However spaghetti has been his one and only meal he will eat alongside chicken nuggets.
- Cars. It's no surprise his birthday theme this year is all about Cars. His love for them is beyond me, he can play with them for hours and every time we go to the store to get him to pick something else he always gravitates to them. We can't escape them, his daddy doesn't mind one bit.
- Trolley. Or as shopping cart, same thing. One of my good friends gave him one since he loved her sons one and he uses it every single day. To the point that even going grocery shopping or anywhere really he has to bring it. He pushes it everywhere and sometimes even carries his toys in it.
- To be tackled. This is such a daddy and him bonding time, he loves it when they play rough, he gets tickled and thrown on the bed. I love seeing them playing together like this however when daddy isn't home I'm the one getting tickled and tackled.
- Belly Buttons. I don't know why but if you take off your shirt or just barely lift it he runs up to you and points to your belly button and just laughs. I think it's adorable.
- Agua. He drinks water all day every day. I think it's pretty funny since he used to love milk and hated water but as toddlers go he changed his mind and switched. He will bring me his sippy cup and hands me a water bottle and says 'aqua'.
HIS DISLIKES:
- Milk. I hate that he hates milk because he needs it. However he will have it if I make smoothies or my morning shake (with tons of greens) and I actually love that even more because he gets all his nutrients without even knowing it.
- To be dirty. After any meal or even if he just touches something gross he doesn't like it. He runs to me to wipe his hands clean or he will find the wipes and clean himself up.
- Fingernails too long or breaking. This is an odd one but he doesn't like it if he has a hang nail, he picks at it and pulls it or asks me to cut his nail. He's very picky about the way it is. Once its cut he stops picking at it.
- Paper on crayons. The crayons comes with a paper wrap on each, well he likes to pick them off. He doesn't like to use them with the paper for some reason. Once it's off he colors away.

My baby's first birthday is vastly approaching. One of the things I always wanted to do was his smash cake session. It was originally supposed to be done in England before our trip but due to the cake making lady I wanted not being available for the date I needed I figured I'd be better off doing it myself and with help of my best friend we pulled it off! The night before I got baking and created this beautiful giant cupcake! (thank you YouTube for the tutorials) It was funfetti of course and the bottom was chocolate. The tent was a prop I created myself because I just couldn't seem to find the right type I was looking for without it costing a fortune. Especially for a shoot, it wasn't worth it! If you're interested in buying this teepee it is up for sale on my Etsy account here. The rest of the props were thanks to ebay and the (ugly) number 1 balloon is from Party City. I say ugly because I originally had this gorgeous gold 40" number one balloon (not shaped like a penis) when I went to get it inflated as soon as I walked out it just flew away... the genius that worked at the balloon department didn't tie it right! I was furious! Anyway this one did the job I guess. I may sound so stupid to get annoyed at this but you have to understand that I'm a perfectionist to my vision. One little detail can ruin everything for me. I'll deal with it though. Guess I can't have my cake and eat it to (hehe get it?) I still loved the shoot and that Jax loved his cake. These are pictures I will forever cherish.

Picture overload! Planning this birthday party took a few months and a lot of shipping! With us being in England and my family and location of the party in Florida. I did save a lot of money by creating a lot of things myself as well as baking and decorating everything from the main cake to smash cake and cupcakes! (Thank you Pinterest!)
The weather way beyond perfect today and I was so relieved! If you live in Florida you know how bipolar the weather can be. Originally it was scheduled to rain so I'm glad it didn't. We rented the carousel bouncy house and the cotton candy machine, they were a huge hit. It was perfect especially for all the little kids. I didn't want them to be bored. On the menu we had, cheddar burgers, mini corn dogs, turkey and cheese rolls, popcorn chicken, fries, papa a la huancaina (peruvian dish), popcorn with a variety of seasonings, chocolates, animal crackers, donuts, cotton candy, red velvet cupcakes, and one of my favorite things my sister and I made, Candy Apples! Jax loved everything! Of course he got to try everything, he's the birthday boy!
Music wise I left it all up to my sister and her pandora stations of some good mix of current music. I couldn't be more than grateful to my family for doing all this for us and helping us create one of Jaxs biggest memory in his life. My sister for cooking most of the food and making such delicious cheddar burgers, my second family (my best friend) for coming early to help me decorate, clean up and even grill the burgers! I couldn't be more thankful.
Jax got so many gifts he literally took up both my suitcases plus carry on! Good thing I didn't shop for myself on this trip, he's got toys galore! He definitely won't be getting any more toys for Christmas, maybe some more useful things instead like books. Here are a good amount of pictures taken, I didn't want to overfill it with pictures. Enjoy!
If you have any questions regarding where I got certain things please feel free to email me here!

I've been having such an obsession with carnivals lately. We've gone to a couple in the last month. I just love the brightness in the lights, the vintage, the fun and of course all the junk food! I'm about 4 months away from Jaxs 1st birthday but as other moms have recommended, not too early to start planning. So I decided to go with the 'Vintage Carnival' theme idea. I'm not doing a huge party, just family and it will be in Florida so I'm mostly concentrating in the main pieces for decor and food than to rent a huge tent. I put together some pieces that have inspired me. I'm hoping to create some of these project as DIYs so I don't break the budget. Besides his actual birthday party I'm also planning his photoshoot which if its too expensive, I'll be taking myself. I always take his pictures but I would love to have these professionally taken for memory keep sake. I will start purchasing a few things each month and have them delivered to Florida so I don't have to bring it all back with me and run the risk of having something ruined.
I can't believe how fast time is going by and I will be having a one year old in less than half a year... I think every mom would agree that it goes by too fast. I'm excited to celebrate but so sad that my baby will be becoming a toddler soon. I want him to look back on all of his pictures and see how he had a fun childhood and that we tried to provide nothing but the best for him.

This is an old post that I never really took my time with. I wanted it to be far more detailed than I had it. I decided to take my time to re-write it. Specially while everything is still fresh in my memory.
Today Jax is one month old! I don't believe how fast that went by. I don't believe I've ever had such patience before, or that I'd be able to love someone so much yet feels very natural. The first week I was able to have my mom and sister visiting us. They cooked and cleaned for us which was such a huge help. All our days consisted on being home in bed watching movies. Relaxing as a family other than the days we had to go to the Drs for his weight check up and to get his birth certificate. He slept for most the time which made it easy.
Weight: Around a full 8lbs.
Eating: This entire month I'd been able to nurse him, and I'm thankful for that. But it slowed down a lot towards the end of the month that I had to start doing formula as well. Something I never wanted to do but what can you do except keep trying. Hoping it will increase again soon. This little boy loves to eat. The main one reason he would cry is for food. His legs are finally starting to get a little chunky and he pushes and kicks them out. He's getting stronger and stronger every day.
Breast feeding wasn't easy but it also didn't get any easier for me. I felt uncomfortable, I felt like he wasn't getting enough of what he wanted. I kept having to pump or use a shield and there were moments when I didn't even want to keep doing it anymore. For some moms breast feeding is the best feeling and such a bonding moment, to me it wasn't bonding because he kept freaking out on me. Seeing him whine and want to pull on his hair just made me sad. I started to pump 5-6 times a day and feed him that way instead. As long as he's getting his nutrients and as much breast milk as possible I'm content.
Sleep: Jax started sleeping in his bassinet besides our bed, but he always managed to pull his arms out of his swaddle and pull the blanket up by his face. I got a little nervous that he would suffocate and so he started sleeping with us. But we are letting him take his day naps in there to get him more used to it, to eventually make the transition completely again. The first weeks his sleep was on and off all night since he sleep most of the day and most of the night. But around 3rd and 4th week he began falling asleep with us at 11pm and waking up at 5am right before Joe would wake up to go to work.
He sleeps pretty well but somehow is very jumpy in his sleep and will sometimes scare himself awake. We're still working on making a schedule work but we're still new at this and so is he. We're both learning.
Clothing: Jax is still wearing newborn size, in fact he finally is filling into them. Only a couple pieces size 0-3m. Onesies fit better than pants on him. Now that I can see how big he is, I can buy him more clothes according to. Shoes he only fits in his 6wk vans. Mostly rocking holiday socks.
Mood: He is a very laid back and relaxed baby. Doesn't cry for no reason, either he's hungry, wet, or has to burp. He started making sounds, so now I can hear how happy he is. He's always kicking when he's happy and that's exactly the kicks he used to do inside. Whenever we go out he falls asleep, in the car or in his swing. Very calm and and just very observative.
Loves:
- His swing and cribs mobile. Just loves to stare at it.
- Music! I put Guns 'n Roses station on Pandora and he just lays in the bed listening and kicking his legs. I knew he would love this kind of music since I always heard in everywhere I went. Even played him music while he was inside and he kicked away to The Beatles.
- Sleeping face down. I don't really like it, I'm scared he won't breath! But he sleeps so good and calm that way. I only let him during naps and when I'm watching him.
- Being outside. It might be the sun, the car movement, or the noise but he loves being outside. It puts him to sleep and relaxes him.
- His daddy's voice. He could be screaming bloody murder and joe will say something he instantly stops and listens. It's beyond adorable to me. I love their bond, I hope it goes on forever.
Doesn’t Love:
- His daddy’s beard! This was for the time he was on leave. He cries whenever he kissed him. Don't worry Jax, I hated it too.
- Changing his clothes. The cold he gets just makes him freak out. He will scream and cry but once he has his new outfit on he completely stops and is all smiles again.
- Cold baby wipes. Thank God for the wipes warmer, he literally freaks out. Throws his hands in the air and from there it's a bomb waiting to go off.
What I Want to Remember:
- The way he starts to sneeze but it goes away. He makes the cutest noise/sigh that Ive ever heard! His sneezes are pretty cute too, he's not sick or anything he just sneezes for no reason.
- The way he grabs onto his hair when he's really into drinking his milk. He just holds onto it and then rubs his hands through his ears to his face and back to his hair. Adorable!!!
- When he's starting to wake up but gets closer to me and cuddles so he just passes right out again. I love that he looks for me and gets closer to me. It feels so nice to see him want to lay with me rather than the usual me pulling him in.
- How his eyes get so watery and red after a good cry. He has such a pitiful look and I just want to hold him and kiss him and tell him he's going to be ok. It breaks my heart to see this sad look but I love to feel so needed by him.
- His smiles in his sleep. I wonder what he's dreaming about or what is just running through his mind. He lays there and does this half smirk half smile type of thing only showing one of his dimples. I stare at him in a total mom creepy way.
- The way he looks for Belle and Jazmine. He's becoming aware of them, he lays and looks upward and around when they lay by him. I love thinteresting way he stares and just observes them.
- How he gets comfortable when he's laying on my chest. He takes his time to lay his head the right way and sighs. Stares off and pushes his legs up. Only to eventually fall right asleep in my arms. I love every moment of it.
- The funny way he has his arms and hands wide open while he sleeps. Every now and then he does this shock move that makes him open them wide. Like dreaming of falling or something. Whatever it is this is, it's so sweet to watch.
Nicknames: We call him lil monster, baby boy, fat boy, fussy man. Depending on what he's doing at the moment. It's just funny to see the nicknames Joe will come up with for him. Other than those I do try to say his name more so he can react to it.
What I’m Looking Forward To: The holidays! Bringing him to meet the rest of the family, have him experience Christmas with both our families. Enjoy his grandparents as well as his aunt and uncle. It's such a fun time to have him here with us throughout this time. Every holiday and every experience is a complete new one with him now.

I'm the type of person that loves to photograph every detail and every moment. Jaxon has no idea what he has coming. As soon as he was born I wanted to remember every moment, every detail. I had a couple photographers on hand to call but they were quite expensive and I wasn't sure I wanted to spend so much, I had seen so many ideas on Pinterest, that I always want to perfect them myself. Here is my little man at merely a day old still at the hospital. All taken by me.
