Smooth as Snow Clay Ornaments | DIY

Sunday, December 18, 2016

Ingredients:

1 cup of baking soda
1/2 cup of corn starch
3/4 cup of warm water

Directions:

Star off by mixing your dry ingredients in a pot, add the warm water and then place on medium/high heat. It will begin to bubble as show in figure #2. Keep mixing as this will turn into mush quick. When you reach the consistency of #3 almost like mashed potatoes, take it off the heat and place it on a cooling rack or wooden rack until you can kneed it into a soft dough. After you make your shapes place it in the over at 145 degrees for 1 hour. If it's a thick ornament I usually flip it around half way so both sides dry evenly.

I've been making this recipe for a couple years now and it is by far the best smooth and gorgeous white dough recipe for ornaments. This is the first year my son enjoyed painting and making them rather than just making a hand stamp.
