Every time I want to change my hair, it's a way for me to start over for some reason. A whole new chapter. I think us girls are entitled to some change every once in a while. With this quote though I'd replace the 'cut' with 'dyes'. Ever since I chopped off my hair, I refuse to cut it again. I'm growing it out and it's been so long since I've done anything to it. Almost since I got pregnant. So this hair change is very much needed. We are mid the heart of spring, with summer right around the corner my hair constitutes for a little brighter do! Nothing too drastic but it still creates that subtle change. I'm also so pale that the dark hair makes me look like Morticia from the Adams Family.
It's so hard finding a salon around this new area and with everything being in pounds also much more expensive. So I'll be doing my hair at home. Yup... This is a hair DIY. Beware!
Now I've worked at a beauty store for a few years, I never recommended boxed dyes because of how harsh the chemicals are and how awful it is to strip it back out. However I've come to the conclusion that it all is in how YOU know your hair. For me personally the same color boxed dye I used when I was in high school is the one I currently have on. Even though the entire time I worked there I only used professional hair products. You see the professional hair products never took too well on my hair. Never got the color I wanted and I always wanted to fix it, with the box dye my hair takes it but let's it fade a little bit, giving it that under color and nice tri blend that I want. That's MY hair though, everyone has their own techniques. If you are unsure of yours, I recommend you go to a salon first, always require the help of a professional when it comes to things you don't know about! I've been messing with my own hair for years! I know what damages it just like I know how fast and how I can treat it. I also know at what level my hair will bleach. I have a best friend whose hair wouldn't even lift at a high 40! No matter how long she kept it in, meanwhile mine lightens up extremely with a 20 dev. Like I said, everybody's hair is different!
I have never tried this L'Oreal Wild Ombré Kit so this is my first time trying it. I'm not looking to do much of an extreme ombré, I just want to blend it in and lighten it up. The fun thing about ombré is that you don't have to be perfect, a great tip is always start from the bottom up. Not mid section down, that will only give you a harsh line in the middle because the bleach will immediately activate once it hits your hair. Also... I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL, NOR DO I INTENT TO ACT LIKE ONE! I can't stress this enough. So please don't be harsh on me or anything I say because this is all my opinions and my experiences on my hair. Okay now that we got most of that out of the way, lets begin!
After mixing the ingredients you're ready to go, apply like so on the brush remember what I said, don't start mid way down, start as low as you can and work your way up. This will allow it to blend better as well. I start by doing the tips then after all my tips are done, I go ahead and continue up further up the middle, that way the tips are lighter than the middle. Makes sense right?
Also another tip is go high around your face. I remember reading an article about Jennifer Anistons hair dresser saying this. You want the frame of your face to be brighter so it pops out. Like a water fall around the face. After you've applied the bleach, don't cover it! Wait anywhere in between 25-45 minutes, depending on how light you want it.
For healing my hair back I used Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle. This thing has been my favorite to use ever since I was in high school. Seriously it's a miracle cream! Always brings my hair back to life. You can cover it up if you'd like to but there's no absolute need for it.
This is my final result, I decided to straighten my hair so you can see the blend and color, but curling it just makes it look even better! I'm highly impressed by the L'Oreal Wild Ombré, it didn't leave it too brassy nor did it damage my hair the way I expected it to. I give it two thumbs up!
Now you're perfectly set for summer with new lighter luscious hair! I might go a little lighter later on, but for now I'm loving this color and would like to keep it for a little while longer... also would like to keep all my hair ON my head....
